Prenatal Care & Policies
We try very hard to keep a relaxed, leisurely, and stress-free atmosphere for everyone. For that reason, we ask that you read and adhere to the following appointment tips and policies.
Please plan to arrive 10 minutes EARLY for your ultrasound.
If you arrive late, then you have missed your appointment. Map your travel time in advance and allow for traffic as you would any other appointment.
In order to respect the time of our other paying clients, those who arrive late will have that much less time for their appointment, but will be charged in full. If we are unable to fit you into the schedule on that day, you will be charged for your appointment in full.
Proof of prenatal care must be shown before we can perform an elective ultrasound. Some examples would be ANY ONE of the following.
1. A dated ultrasound picture from this pregnancy or a screenshot
2. An appointment card from your prenatal provider
3. A short note from your prenatal provider stating that you are under their care for this pregnancy
4. Your prenatal welcome packet with your due date
5. If you use a patient portal for your prenatal provider, you may sign in and show us a date of a prenatal visit. A screenshot will work too
Stay hydrated and drink some juice or a caffeinated beverage on the way to your appointment.
How much water should I drink while pregnant?
The recommended amounts of water each woman should drink during pregnancy vary depending on several other factors.
- Body weight — Our bodies need 1 ounce of water for every 2 pounds of body weight. Your growing baby will add between 20 and 30 pounds to that number, so you need to adjust your water intake accordingly.
- Activity levels — Your body uses up more water during exercise as it works to keep your muscles hydrated. Add one eight-ounce glass of water for each hour of exercise you take while pregnant.
- Temperature — In warmer environments, the body produces sweat to keep us cool. The hotter we get, the more we sweat. Add an eight-ounce glass of water for every hour you spend in temperatures of 70 degrees or more.
How to calculate the ideal water intake for pregnant women
To find out how much water you should drink during pregnancy, use our body weight calculator.
100 pounds = 10 glasses
120 pounds = 10.5 glasses
140 pounds = 11 glasses
170 pounds = 11.5 glasses
200 pounds = 12 glasses
Dress in a 2-piece outfit to easily expose your belly.
We encourage you to bring your family, including children to share this experience with you. Our scan suite fits 10 people comfortably.
Please have a valid credit card ready when you book your appointment.
A small deposit is required when scheduling your ultrasound. You may pay the balance on the day of your ultrasound.
A $2.50 credit card processing fee is applied to credit card payments. Cash payments are eligible for a $5 discount. A $10 PPE fee is assessed for client safety due to the use of disposable items.
We have a 24-hour cancellation policy.
For last-minute cancellations or emergencies less than 24 hrs before your appointment, we charge your card. Text proof of emergency to 617-838-5466 for a refund. We respect your HIPPA rights so your private information may be redacted or excluded.
You may also e-mail us at Kim@anewconception.com. We apologize for this inconvenience, and we certainly never want to enforce such a policy. Honesty is the best policy!
Illness Policy
Maintaining health and wellness is a priority at A New Conception Ultrasound Studio. Our clientele comprises pregnant women and unborn babies, who are at higher risk of illness. We kindly request that you contact us if feeling unwell to reschedule your appointment and prioritize self-care.
Live Internet streaming is available with NO additional fees if a guest is unable to come to the ultrasound.
Will my 3D ultrasound pictures be perfect?
The response to that question is often not definitive. Our commitment is to strive for optimal image quality. Each fetal scan varies based on factors such as gestational age, position, amniotic fluid levels, and maternal BMI.
Regrettably, we cannot ensure that the images will resemble those seen elsewhere or even from our studio, or that we will always meet everyone's expectations. We understand that what makes a great picture varies from individual to individual.
If excess weight is present, a high level of amniotic fluid is essential for clear baby images.
Perfection is subjective! We love action shots!
Redo Policy
If necessary to return for a redo scan, the redo ultrasound must be scheduled within 2 weeks. Occasionally, exceptions can be made due to busy schedules. It's recommended to reschedule the redo appointment before leaving the studio. A $10 PPE fee applies.
Child Policy
We cater to families with kids and have play areas to keep them entertained. Please help us keep the play areas tidy and let us know about any spills or accidents.
Share this enjoyable experience with all your friends and family, including the little ones! Ensure that everyone respects our studio. If children misbehave, the scan may need to be shortened. We encourage you to relax, concentrate, and appreciate the ultrasound!
Supervise your child around the ultrasound machine to avoid repair costs and session termination.
Gift Cards
Gift cards have a fixed dollar value or package and cannot be exchanged for cash. A New Conception is not liable for lost or stolen gift certificates. No deposit is needed when scheduling with a gift certificate, but failure to attend will result in voiding the certificate.
* When booking online with a gift certificate, please chose the "I HAVE A GIFT CARD" option and write the package of your choice or the amount of your gift card in the comment box.
Right to Refuse Service Policy
To safeguard our clients' best interests, our team may decline service at any point. While we welcome large groups to our family-friendly studio, disruptive individuals will be escorted out, and full charges apply.
For the safety of our staff and families, our studio is video and audio taped at all times (except in the lavatory)
