Arrive 10 minutes EARLY for your ultrasound. If you are more than 10 minutes late, then you have missed your appointment. Map your travel time in advance & allow for traffic as you would any other appointment.

PROOF OF PRENATAL care must be shown before we can perform an elective ultrasound at our studio. Some examples would be:
1. A dated ultrasound picture from this pregnancy
2. An appointment card from your prenatal provider
3. A short note from your prenatal provider stating that you are under their care for this pregnancy
4. OR your Prenatal welcome packet
5. If you use a Patient Portal for your treating physician, you may sign in and show us your dated HCG blood test results
Stay hydrated and drink orange juice or apple juice on the way to your appointment.
Dress in a 2 piece outfit to easily expose your belly
Please have a valid credit card ready when you book your appointment. A $1.00 deposit is required when scheduling your ultrasound to validate your credit card. You may pay the balance on the day of your visit by Visa, MC, Discover, Debit, Amex or Cash
** If you pay by credit card on the day of your visit, a $1.50 credit card processing fee is applied. If you pay by cash, there is no processing fee. Thank you for understanding.
We have a 24 hour cancellation policy.
We understand that emergencies happen and you may not be able to make your ultrasound appointment. If a situation occurs on the day of your appointment, we will charge your credit card that we have on file the $75 broken appt. fee. Text us proof of your emergency to 617-838-5466 when you find the time. Your fee will be returned to you immediately. You may also e-mail us at Kim@anewconception.com. We apologize for this inconvenience, we certainly never wanted to enforce such a policy. Honesty is the best policy!

The clarity of your ultrasound is determined by many things
Most importantly is Mommy’s condition. Obese or extremely overweight women will yield blurrier 3D pictures. It is simply physics. This is true for any prenatal ultrasound, be it a dating ultrasound, NT scan or other. When planning a 3D 4D or HD ultrasound to see your baby’s face, please plan your visit later in pregnancy. 3D and 4D Ultrasound is based on surface rendering of your baby. The sound waves must reach the baby through our special probe and bounce back to our software to create the pictures of your baby you will see on the screen. 2D or regular ultrasounds can be just as difficult. Any 2D abdominal Ultrasound may also look grainy.
If your baby’s ultrasound looks “blurry” like the 2 pictures above then Mommy’s body mass is too high. Getting clear images is out of our control. There is a $50.00 re-scan fee if you would like to try again for “clearer pictures” later in your pregnancy.
Sometimes babies hide, are uncooperative or playing “Pretzel” like the babies above. Don’t fret, we will have you come back at another time and hopefully baby will want to show themselves. All redo appointments must be completed within 2 weeks.
What kind of Ultrasound equipment do you use to perform the 4D Ultrasounds?
We use the state of the art equipment from GE to complete all Ultrasound examinations. We use a GE E8 Expert. This machine is the best 2D, 3D and 4D Ultrasound machine available.
Please note, many organizations claim to use “state-of-the-art” equipment, when in fact they use older or inferior technology. Only the GE equipment generates 3D images with amazing clarity and gives you the same clarity with 4D imagery and the new HDlive ultrasound of your baby in motion. Our sonogram equipment allows you to see your baby in live motion video unlike any other on the market today.
Will I always get a beautiful picture of my baby?
Usually, but not always. Sometimes if the baby is persistently looking face down, i.e. towards your spine and it may be difficult to see the baby’s face. Other factors, such as the baby facing the placenta or lack of amniotic fluid in front of the baby’s face, may affect the quality of the images.
First, our tech will try repositioning the Mom to see if we can obtain a better position. If we are unable to obtain images during the session, we will schedule a repeat scan as deemed appropriate by the sonographer. Redo appointments are scheduled within 2 weeks.
We make no promises that the images will be similar to those you might have seen elsewhere or even from our studio, or that we can always meet everyone’s expectations. Every baby scans differently, depending on its gestational age, position, amount of fluid, and mother’s condition. We promise to make every effort to obtain the best possible images of your baby. Does the location of my placenta impact the quality of my images?
Not necessarily. Many clients with anterior placenta ( in front ) often ask if there will be difficulty seeing their baby with a 3d or 4d ultrasound. A large percentage of our clients have anterior placenta and we are able to scan from the side and around the placenta to see the baby. In some cases, the baby will face into the placenta, whether it is anterior, posterior ( along the back) or fundal ( along the top), in which case, we will work to try to get the baby to move away from the placenta. Some of the images will have parts of the placenta in them, after all, we are imaging the baby in the womb. We will do our best to get as much of the face in view as possible but a full face shot is not always available.
Similarly, babies are often going to be putting their hands and feet in their face and may not free up a view of the entire face. Many moms tell us that their babies make the same gestures and put hands and feet in the face after birth just as they did in the womb and it makes them treasure the ultrasound images even more.
